Women in leadership: a search for achievement and recognition

Mulheres na liderança: uma busca por conquista e reconhecimento - B2 Midia

An E&Y study found that full gender equality in the corporate world would only arrive in the year 2095. In Brazil, the forecast is that women will earn the same as men in 2085 and that only in 2126, 51% of women will occupy management positions executive. women in leadership

Positions of great importance have already been achieved by women, one example is Mary Barra, who worked for 33 years at General Motors before becoming the first woman to hold the position of CEO of the main American automaker.

Companies have not yet reinvented themselves in order to offer practices and resources (such as daycare and more flexible hours) that allow women to reconcile their personal and professional lives, thus finally being able to take off in their careers.

According to a survey carried out by Opinion Box with 783 managers across the country, called “Female Leadership Panorama”:

A study by McKinsey & Cia revealed that administrative boards with at least one woman on their composition had higher 50% results. This points out that balance brings more financial results and that the role of both sexes is fundamental. women in leadership

Women who participated in an interview conducted by Business Insider revealed that to obtain the same recognition and rewards as men, they need to do twice as much, never make a mistake and constantly need to show their skills.

According to Cristina Kerr, some women need to work on their self-esteem, the vast majority believe they reach important positions through luck. “Imposter Syndrome is a disorder that makes people unable to internalize their achievements in life. Regardless of the level of success achieved or the proof of competence given, they feel like frauds. Unfortunately, many women suffer from this problem and boycott themselves professionally, they believe that they got to where they are by luck and do not take advantage of opportunities”, concludes the specialist.

Compared to men, women ask for more feedback and take steps to improve and achieve desired roles. Men, on the other hand, tend to reduce this request as they get older and build confidence in the roles they perform.

Among the companies led by women, including in the presidency, are Brasilata, Byofórmula, Cultura Inglesa, Ericsson, Instituto Itaú Cultural, Laboratório Sabin, Magazine Luiza, Prezunic, Quintiles Brasil and Zanzini Móveis. All of these are examples of excellence and inspiration for managers or anyone who dreams of it. The job market may not be a bed of roses for women, but together and by helping each other, the strength multiplies so that the fight against prejudice and disparities decreases every day.

And speaking of such an important subject, this month we will have a webinar with Luara Canobre, Business Manager at Squid, about: “Female Leadership in Today”, sign up now clicking here.
